Dead Basketball Player

“Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire!” – St. Catherine of Siena

Well, as crazy as 2020 has been thus far, Halloween this year seemed to bring just as much joy and happiness as it always has (at least for my kids and our neighborhood). The excitement of the costumes, the energy of the trick or treaters, and the endless piles of candy was just like the good old days.

And, my heart got just as excited as the kids running through the neighborhood collecting candy, when I put on my St. Catherine’s high school basketball hooded sweatshirt from the early 2000’s for my dead basketball player costume to match my 8-year-old daughter! It felt absolutely amazing throwing on that old school baller gear!

When I woke up this morning my heart was filled with happiness, knowing that I am NOT a dead basketball player. In fact, I am very much alive and the same b-ball girl from high school who still loves to dress up, have fun, and compete!

And, I know no matter what the world throws at me I will always be that same competitive, fun-loving girl, who will always attempt to take on the world and set it on fire!

I am proud to celebrate those who stand up for their beliefs, be true to themselves, and inspire others to be confident in who God meant us to be!

We all are so different and yet we all feel the very same things.

And, no matter our differences, we have the ability to find our inner strength, courage, and confidence to support one another and set this world on fire!

So cheers to all of us on this beautiful journey we call life. May we always choose to celebrate each other and life together! ❤️
